The Department of Education continues to strengthen school readiness efforts through the implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2026. Guided by the theme “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” this year’s program emphasizes collaboration among schools, parents, local government units, volunteers, private organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure that schools are safe, organized, and ready for the opening of classes.
More than just a school clean-up campaign, Brigada Eskwela has evolved into a nationwide movement that promotes learner safety, literacy development, disaster preparedness, and community participation. To support the effective implementation of activities across the country, DepEd included several important annexes in the 2026 Brigada Eskwela Implementing Guidelines. Among the most significant are Annexes A, B, C, and D, which serve as essential tools for monitoring school readiness, organizing activities, and ensuring transparency in donations and resources.
Annex A: School Preparedness Checklist
Annex A, also known as the School Preparedness Checklist, serves as one of the most important tools in Brigada Eskwela implementation. It helps schools assess their overall readiness before the official opening of classes.
The checklist covers several critical areas, including classroom condition, availability of learning resources, water and sanitation facilities, health and safety measures, disaster preparedness plans, electrical safety, and learner support systems. School heads, teachers, and stakeholders use this checklist to determine whether specific areas are fully prepared, partially prepared, or still needing intervention.
Through Annex A, schools can identify urgent concerns and prioritize repairs or improvements before classes begin. It also helps mobilize community support and resources more efficiently. Because of its structured format, the checklist promotes accountability, organized planning, and evidence-based decision-making within schools.
Most importantly, Annex A contributes to creating safer and more learner-friendly school environments for both students and teachers.
Annex B: Proposed Program of Activities for Brigada Eskwela
Annex B contains the proposed program of activities for the nationwide Brigada Eskwela kick-off. This annex provides schools and regional offices with a standardized guide for conducting activities during the implementation period.
The proposed activities include advocacy campaigns, clean-up drives, tree planting activities, volunteer work, storytelling sessions, stakeholder dialogues, school monitoring, and literacy-related programs. These activities encourage community participation and strengthen the spirit of bayanihan among education stakeholders.
By providing a clear operational framework, Annex B helps ensure that schools nationwide conduct organized and coordinated Brigada Eskwela activities. It also allows schools to align their local programs with national objectives while still adapting activities based on community needs.
Furthermore, the annex reinforces the importance of volunteerism and shared responsibility in supporting quality education and school preparedness.
Annex C: Inventory Custodian Slip
Annex C focuses on financial transparency and accountability. Known as the Inventory Custodian Slip, this form is used to record donated items valued below ₱50,000.
During Brigada Eskwela, schools often receive donations such as electric fans, chairs, cleaning materials, school supplies, construction materials, and other equipment from stakeholders and private donors. Annex C ensures that these donated items are properly documented and monitored.
The form also identifies the person responsible for the custody and safekeeping of the donated property. This process helps schools maintain accurate records and prevents the misuse or loss of donated resources.
By requiring proper documentation, Annex C supports transparency and compliance with government accounting and auditing regulations.
Annex D: Property Acknowledgment Receipt
Meanwhile, Annex D or the Property Acknowledgment Receipt is used for donated items and properties valued at ₱50,000 and above.
This annex is essential for documenting higher-value donations received by schools during Brigada Eskwela activities. These may include computers, printers, televisions, furniture sets, equipment, or infrastructure-related donations from government agencies, organizations, or private partners.
Annex D formally acknowledges receipt of the donated property and identifies the accountable person responsible for its proper use and maintenance. Like Annex C, it strengthens accountability and ensures compliance with government property management policies.
Proper recording of donated assets also helps schools maintain transparency and build trust among stakeholders and donors.
Strengthening Brigada Eskwela Through Accountability and Community Participation
Annexes A, B, C, and D play vital roles in ensuring the successful implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2026. Together, these annexes help schools become more organized, transparent, prepared, and responsive to the needs of learners and communities.
While Annexes A and B focus on school preparedness and activity implementation, Annexes C and D strengthen financial accountability and proper documentation of donated resources. These tools help ensure that every contribution from stakeholders is properly managed and utilized for the benefit of schools and learners.
Through these annexes, DepEd continues to promote a culture of bayanihan, accountability, volunteerism, and shared responsibility in education. As schools prepare for the opening of classes, the effective use of these forms and guidelines will remain essential in creating safe, functional, and learner-centered learning environments nationwide.
