The Department of Education (DepEd) will implement the Three-Term School Calendar for School Year 2026–2027. Because of this change, teachers also need updated instructional materials that follow the new academic structure. To support classroom instruction, ready-made Daily Lesson Logs (DLLs) for Key Stage 2 (Grades 4–6) are now available for Week 1 (June 15–19, 2026). These DLLs already follow the ILAW lesson planning format under the Enhanced MATATAG Curriculum.
The ready-to-use DLLs help teachers organize lessons for the opening week of classes. They also support competency-based and learner-centered instruction. Since learners in Grades 4–6 are developing higher-order thinking skills, the lesson logs encourage collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and active classroom participation.
Teachers can also use these DLLs to reduce preparation time during the first week of school. Instead of creating lesson plans from scratch, educators can focus more on classroom interaction, learner engagement, and effective instructional delivery.
Aligned with the ILAW Framework
The available DLLs use the ILAW framework introduced under the revised instructional delivery model for the Three-Term School Calendar. ILAW stands for:
- I – Intentions
- L – Learning Experience
- A – Assessment
- W – Ways Forward
This framework helps teachers prepare lessons with clear objectives and organized classroom activities. It also guides teachers in creating meaningful assessments and intervention strategies. Through this structure, teachers can monitor learner progress more effectively.
The ILAW format also promotes reflective teaching practices. It encourages teachers to provide remediation for struggling learners and enrichment activities for advanced learners. As a result, classroom instruction becomes more responsive and inclusive.
Each DLL contains organized instructional sections aligned with the ILAW framework. Teachers will find learning objectives, classroom activities, formative assessments, and intervention or enrichment tasks inside the materials. The DLLs are also editable and adaptable for different classroom settings.
Teachers may localize and improve the lesson logs depending on learner needs and available resources. This flexibility helps educators create more meaningful learning experiences for their classes.
Benefits of Using Ready-Made DLLs
Preparing DLLs for several subjects requires time and effort. During the opening week of classes, teachers also manage orientation activities, classroom routines, and learner adjustments. Ready-made DLLs help lessen this workload.
The prepared lesson logs also support organized teaching and smoother classroom delivery. Since intermediate learners need engaging and interactive instruction, the DLLs include activities that promote participation and collaboration.
In addition, the DLLs help teachers maintain proper pacing under the Three-Term School Calendar. They also ensure alignment with DepEd standards and curriculum expectations for SY 2026–2027.
Designed for the Three-Term School Calendar
The Week 1 DLLs are specifically prepared for the implementation of the Three-Term School Calendar. The materials follow the revised instructional structure for SY 2026–2027 and support the goals of the Enhanced MATATAG Curriculum.
These DLLs help teachers maximize instructional time while maintaining learner-centered instruction. Through the ILAW format, educators can deliver lessons that are organized, competency-based, and developmentally appropriate for Grades 4–6 learners.
Teachers are still encouraged to review, improve, and contextualize the materials according to their classroom environment and learner needs. By doing so, they can provide more effective and inclusive instruction throughout the school year.
