As the Department of Education (DepEd) officially implements the Three-Term School Calendar for School Year 2026–2027, teachers across the country are preparing for major adjustments in instructional delivery, lesson planning, and assessment practices under the Enhanced MATATAG Curriculum. To support educators during the opening of classes, ready-made Daily Lesson Logs (DLLs) for Key Stages 1–3 are now available for Week 1 (June 15–19, 2026), already aligned with the new ILAW instructional framework.
These ready-to-use DLLs are intended to help teachers deliver organized, competency-based, and learner-centered instruction from Grades 1 to 10. Prepared according to the revised instructional structure under the Three-Term School Calendar, the lesson logs aim to reduce teachers’ workload while ensuring that classroom instruction remains aligned with DepEd standards and curriculum expectations.
The DLLs are especially helpful during the opening week of classes when teachers are simultaneously managing classroom orientation, learner adjustment, school routines, and instructional preparation. By using structured and ready-made lesson logs, educators can focus more on learner engagement, classroom interaction, and effective instructional delivery.
Aligned with the ILAW Framework
The available DLLs are organized using the ILAW framework, one of the instructional reforms introduced alongside the Three-Term School Calendar. ILAW stands for:
- I – Intentions
- L – Learning Experience
- A – Assessment
- W – Ways Forward
This lesson planning structure helps teachers create more meaningful and purposeful instruction by clearly identifying lesson objectives, learner activities, assessment strategies, and intervention or enrichment plans. The framework also promotes reflective teaching and continuous learner monitoring to improve classroom outcomes.
The ILAW format supports developmentally appropriate teaching practices across different grade levels. For primary learners in Key Stage 1, the framework encourages active participation, play-based learning, and foundational skill development. For intermediate learners in Key Stage 2, it promotes collaboration, inquiry, and deeper understanding of concepts. Meanwhile, for Junior High School learners in Key Stage 3, the format supports analytical thinking, independent learning, and performance-based instruction.
Benefits for Teachers Across Key Stages
Preparing lesson logs for multiple grade levels and subjects can be challenging, especially during the first week of school. These ready-made DLLs help teachers save time while maintaining alignment with current DepEd policies and curriculum standards.
For Key Stage 1 teachers (Grades 1–3), the DLLs support foundational learning, classroom routines, and learner adjustment. For Key Stage 2 teachers (Grades 4–6), the materials promote active participation, teamwork, and higher-order thinking skills. Meanwhile, for Key Stage 3 teachers (Grades 7–10), the DLLs encourage critical thinking, collaboration, inquiry-based learning, and competency mastery.
The lesson logs also help teachers maintain consistency in pacing, instructional delivery, and classroom management under the revised academic structure of the Three-Term School Calendar.
Designed for the Three-Term School Calendar
The ready-made DLLs are specifically prepared for the implementation of the Three-Term School Calendar for SY 2026–2027. As schools transition to revised instructional blocks, updated assessment schedules, and curriculum reforms, properly aligned teaching materials become essential in ensuring smooth and effective classroom instruction.
These DLLs are intended to help teachers maximize instructional time while creating engaging, inclusive, and competency-based learning experiences for learners across elementary and junior high school levels. Through the ILAW framework, teachers are better guided in delivering structured and meaningful lessons that support learner development and academic success.
Educators are still encouraged to review, improve, and localize the lesson logs according to their learners’ needs, classroom realities, and community context to further strengthen teaching and learning outcomes throughout the school year.
